Virginia Sales Tax Holiday - August 3-5

The Commonwealth of Virginia offers three Tax Holidays per year to encourage consumer spending in certain categories:

May 25-31, 2012: Hurricane and Emergency Preparedness Equipment

August 3-5, 2012: School Supplies and Clothing

October 5-8, 2012: Energy Star and WaterSense Qualified Products

Here are some details on the School Supplies and Clothing holiday that will occur this weekend.

The Sales Tax Holiday begins at 12:01 am on August 3rd and ends at midnight on August 5th. During this three-day period, purchases of certain school supplies, clothing and footwear will be exempt from the Virginia sales tax. Each eligible school supply item must be priced at $20 or less, and each eligible article of clothing and footwear must be priced at $100 or less.

So, if you were considering a new lunchbox or cute outfit, this is the weekend to buy it. And guess, what - diapers are considered clothing for the purpose of the Tax Holiday!
