Giant Gift Card Promo for 4X Gas Points!

Giant supermarket is running a promotion through December 4, 2014 to get 4X the usual number of gas points when you purchase gift cards. Normally they credit you one gas point per dollar spent. The promo excludes American Express, Visa, and Mastercard.

This morning I purchased 3 Shell gift cards worth $25.00 each and a Giant gift card worth $25.00. I received a total of 300 gas points, so I assume the Giant store cards also do not work for this deal. I'll be going back tomorrow to pick up a prescription and will check with customer service.

Nice deal if you need gift card for the holidays or for rebates, or just want to stock up on gas or restaurant cards for yourself!

Giant Pork Deal and Prescription Offer!

Yesterday I went to Giant to take advantage of the Saving Star rebate on fresh pork. In order to get the most bang for my buck, I picked out the smallest, and therefore cheapest, pork loin and chops that I could find. They were the Giant brand and I was careful to get a pork loin with no seasoning, as specified in the offer:

My total for this purchase was $13.46 with tax, but after my Saving Star credit, the final cost will be $7.46! 

When I paid this wonderful coupon popped out out of the Catalina machine to get $25.00 worth of free groceries for transferring a prescription to the pharmacy at Giant:

We currently only have one prescription in the family, which resides at Rite Aid, but it will be finding a new home at Giant this week! I haven't been lucky finding good deals on Halloween candy this year, so I may use this coupon to cover that expense. 

Then, hopefully, Rite Aid will have one of those coupons in their ad again soon to get a $25.00 UP Reward for transferring a prescription to them, and I can move it back again!

Giant Ends 5 Cent Reusable Bag Rebate

After 20 years of offering a nickel rebate to customers for each reusable shopping bag, Giant supermarket decided to end the program last Friday. They announced that this change corresponds with new, lower prices on several items. 

Giant will continue to recycle plastic shopping bags that you return to the store and participate in other large scale green practices, like recycling cardboard and using environmentally friendly designs to save energy.

While I was at Giant I spotted a good price on Gala Apples for 97 cents a pound.  A great deal when combined with this week's Saving Star Healthy Offer!

Giant Shopping Deals and Steals!

I ran over to Giant to get the cheap Yoplait Greek Yogurt that I posted about HERE. It turned out to be an even better than I thought because I found a coupon for 20 cents off one in my stash from coupons.com (no longer available to print) plus I printed coupons for $1.00 off 3 at bettycrocker.com (thanks, Diana!). Additionally, I had a Saving Star offer for $1.00 off 3 Yoplait Greek yogurts and a Checkout 51 offer off any one yogurt for 25 cents! 

Here is how it all worked out:
Bought 17 Yoplait Greek Yogurts @ 40 cents each =  $6.80
- 2 coupons for $1.00 off 5
- 2 coupons for $1.00 off 3
- 1 coupon for 20 cents off 1, doubled
= $2.40 out of pocket
After I get back $1.25 from Saving Star and Checkout 51, my total cost will be $1.15 or 7 cents each! 

I also found Trix Cereal on sale for $1.99 and was able to use these printable coupons (also no longer available), doubled to pay 49 cents for one box and 39 cents for another box. 

Here is something new and interesting at Giant. You can now scan your item and get the price for it before you go to the register, without using the hand scanner.

New Giant Fall Healthy Recipes Coupon Booklet!

Here is a new Healthy Ideas booklet that I found at my Giant store:

It has lots of great recipes and coupons inside. Most of the coupons are Giant store coupons and can only be used in that store. They look like this - note that the UPC number starts with a 2:

Giant store coupons can be "stacked" - or combined with - manufacturer's coupons! 

The booklet has a few manufacturer's coupons inside. Even though they have the Giant store logo on them, they can be used anywhere. Note that the UPC number begins with a 9:

Manufacturer's coupons that begin with a 9 will not double at the register. Manufacturer's coupons that begin with a 5 will double at the register, even if they say "do not double" on them. It is the job of the cashier to catch them and ensure that they don't double, but most cashiers don't bother. 

Doubling coupons is an expense borne by the store to encourage you to shop there, so I have never understood why some manufacturers put "do not double" on their coupons, since it does not cost them anything extra anyway.

Neuro Sleep BOGO Free Deal at Giant!

If you recently got the coupon from Neuro Sleep that I posted about HERE, you can take it to Giant where they are on sale Buy One Get One Free this week!  There are two coupons on the same postcard:

And one for a free bottle when you buy a bottle on the reverse -

I had a hard time finding this, because I was expecting it to be a small bottle near the sleep aids on the "over-the-counter drug" aisle. It turned out to be a large bottle on the "bottled water" aisle.  

I bought 4 bottles and some marked down bananas today, but the coupons did not scan properly. Although the Neuro was on sale $2.00 for $4.00 (in addition to being BOGO Free), my cashier took off the full price of $2.59 for one. I thought my total of $2.28 seemed high, so I reviewed my receipt after checkout and found that only one of the coupons had been subtracted. I went to customer service, where I received another $2.59 for my second coupon. That means this trip was a 31 cent money maker!

The Giant ad found in the home mailer or Washington Post subscription has a new coupon to earn 300 bonus gas points when you spend $50.00 between April 11 - 20, 2014 with your Giant card! 

Giant - $1.00 Turkey Hill Ice Cream with Coupon

Turkey Hill ice cream is on sale for $2.00 this week at Giant (though Thursday). That is already my stock up price for a carton, but if you have the $1.00 coupons, you can get it for $1.00!

There are two ways to get the $1.00 coupon:

1) Cash in 50 points at Recyclebank and print it out

2) Contac Turkey Hill online HERE or by phone at 1-800-My Dairy Monthly to request coupons by snail mail. You can ask for a stack every 30 days (thus the phone number!)

Free Pop Tarts At Giant with KFR Coupons!

Today I cashed in 500 points from my Kellogg's Family Rewards account to be able to print out a coupon for 75 cents off a any Kellogg's Cereal or Pop Tarts. You can print two copies. 

Then I ran over to Giant and bought 2 boxes of Pop Tarts that were on sale, 2 for $3.00. Since my coupons doubled, my total was 4 cents for the tax! 

Today is the last day of the sale. 

Kraft Singles Cheese Catalina and Coupon Deal!

A few weeks ago I posted that I had seen this sign for a special offer at my Food Lion:

It says that you will get a $2.00 Catalina coupon good towards your next purchase when you buy 2 Kraft Singles (12 oz or larger), a loaf of bread and any produce item. Afterwards, I saw the same sign at both Giant and Harris Teeter.

It turns out that there is a national Catalina offer running until March 30th to get back a $2.00 Catalina when you buy 2 Kraft Singles (12 oz or larger) packages. You don't even need to add the bread and produce to your cart! 

This Catalina offer makes a good deal on sliced cheese when paired with this printable coupon:



Harris Teeter Scenario:
Buy 2 Kraft American Singles - on sale $3.00 each through 3/18
Total $6.00
Use two 75 cent coupons doubled
Pay $3.00 out of pocket and get back a Catalina for $2.00 off your next shopping order.

There is some speculation that the Catalina may print for the Kraft shredded cheese as well, but I haven't tried it.
