Harris Teeter Super Doubles and Rainchecks

Did you know that Harris Teeter rain checks never expire?

I never had good luck with rain checks in the past. I would get one for an item that was out of stock and my coupon would expire before the item was restocked. Some stores will let you use an expired coupon in this case, but it just seemed like a hassle to me. However, during the last Super Doubles at Harris Teeter, I had quite a few coupons for items that were OOS, and I went to the customer service desk on the last day of the sale with my list to request raincheck.

It paid off for me today, as I was able to match those rain checks will coupons that were still good from the last sale, since these Super Doubles events were pretty close together!

My rain check for the Ken's salad dressing was probably a year old. It was for a Buy One Get One Free sale. I was happy to use it today, since were are all out of salad dressing. I got 6 bottles that are normally $2.19 each, but my rain checks made them 1/2 price. Then I used 3 coupons for $1.00 off 2 that made them 10 cents each!

Here is what I purchased today:

My total after coupons and ZVR's was $3.44!

And here are some last minute match-ups, since tomorrow is the last day:

Kernel Season's - Popcorn Salt Flavor - $2.49
- $1.00 ZVR loaded to your Vic card
- this coupon:
$1.00 off ONE Kernel Season's jar 2.7oz - 10.2oz
= Money Maker!
Note: If you can't find the Popcorn Salt flavor, the other flavors are $3.19, so just 19 cents after ZVR and doubled coupon.

Herbal Essences Body Wash - $3.49
- $1.00 ZVR loaded to your Vic card
- $1.00 coupon from the 3/30  insert
= 49 cents!

Cottonelle Fresh Care Flushable Cleansing Clothes - $5.19
- $2.00 peelie coupon = $1.19
Catalina Offer: Buy 2 and get $2.00 off your next order
= 19 cents each when you buy 2 after coupon and catalina!

Trash to Cash Ebay Sales for March!

Here are the items that I got for free - either from dumpsters or with coupons - plus a few items that were just laying around my house, that I sold on Ebay in March:

This 1991 Honda Accord Service Manual that I found at the recycling center went for $23.00 with free shipping!

This lot of 14 back issues of O Magazine by Oprah sold for $10.00 and the buyer paid $12.50 for Priority Shipping in a flat rate box because she wanted them in 2 days! I also found these at the recycling center.

This lot of 18 Covergirl Eye Shadows sold for $10.00 and the buyer paid another $7.82 for shipping. These were a money maker at Rite Aid back in September

This book - The Arabs: A History - sold for $8.00 with free shipping. I found it in the dumpster.

This empty box that my Samsung Galaxy Smartphone came in sold for $4.99 plus the buyer paid $4.12 for shipping.

This cookbook, How to Cook Everything Vegetarian, which was collecting dust in my kitchen for the past 4 years, sold for $16.99 which included shipping.

This lot of 18 nursing magazine back issues that I found at the recycling center sold for $19.99 with free shipping.

These 3 Victoria's Secret coupons that came to me in the mail sold for $2.50 with free shipping (i.e. one stamp).

This defective Amazon Kindle that I found in the dumpster sold with its original box for $10.99, which included free shipping.

These four bottles of Rolaids that were free at Harris Teeter Super Doubles last month sold for $18.00 with free shipping, which was a bad deal for me. I had them listed for $24.99 with free shipping and best offer. Someone in CA offered $18.00 and I took it without making a counter-offer or checking the cost of shipping because I was in a hurry. The shipping cost nearly $14.00! After Ebay and Pay Pal fees I made a profit of only $2.00. Note to self: remember to list all HBA items with "buyer pays shipping".

And here was my favorite sale this month - this Hurst Competition Shifter from the 1968 Chevrolet Camaro that my husband is restoring - sold for $119, and the buyer paid $18.00 for priority shipping!

My total profits on freebies, after Ebay and Paypal fees and shipping costs came to about $175 for March.

Mail in Rebates and Try Me Free Offers

Every month I send off for as may Try Me Free offers and Mail in Rebates as I can find. I especially like "No Beer Purchase Required" (NBPR) and "No Wine Purchase Required" (NWPR) rebates, because they often pay me for purchasing meat, produce, and other things that are difficult to get for free with coupons. Some times I find these forms in the beer/wine aisle of the store, but often I get them in trade.

Tomorrow I am mailing these checks to the bank for a total deposit of $31.35:

I should have made more this month, but I forgot to put my birth date on a couple of rebates, and I got postcards in the mail asking me to call the processing center and confirm that I am old enough to buy alcohol!

I never did Money Back Guarantees before I starting couponing and refunding, but now I do them often, since I learned that MBG's are just another marketing ploy to encourage you to buy a product. I always put down my reason for dissatisfaction with the product as "the price was too high" and I have not been rejected yet!

Harris Teeter Super Doubles Mach-Up List #3

Today I went back to Harris Teeter with my receipt from yesterday, but the ZVR system was still down. The problem is with the vendor who provides the ZVR system to Harris Teeter. I got cash for the ZVR's owed to me from yesterday, and decided not to buy any items with ZVR's today to avoid futher hassle.  Here is what I got:

My total before coupons was $71.53, but I only paid $5.33 out of pocket. I will get back $1.00 from Ibotta for the So Delicious creamer and 50 cents from Ibotta for the milk. That makes the total cost for my trip $3.83 - about what the gallon of milk cost!

News flash:  Harris Teeter has recently changed their coupon policy to allow 3 identical internet printable coupons per transaction (it used to be two)!

Hot Tip: If you receive the Washington Post newspaper by subscription, you can use the $10/$50 Shopper's Food Warehouse peelie coupon from today's issue as a competitor's coupon at Harris Teeter. Not going to spend $50? Just add a $50 HT gift card to your transaction, and use it to pay for your groceries the rest of the week!

Here is a photo of my Harris Teeter shopping trip today. The total before coupons was $87.79, and I paid $6.67 but none of my E-Vic coupons came off the bill, since the ZVR system was down!
