My Trash to Cash Ebay Sales for November!

My first Ebay Trash to Cash sale last month wasn't really trash, but I got it for free in the mail. I sold these 2 Victoria's Secret coupons for $5.00 and I only spent a stamp to mail them someone else in Virginia!

This empty soft case for Bolle sunglasses sold for $9.99 with free shipping, which cost me $1.93. My husband realized that he had not packed his sunglasses when we went to Florida on vacation a year and a half ago, so he bought a pair at the Sam's Club in Cocoa Beach. A few weeks ago, I fished this case for them out of our bedroom trash can, where my husband had chucked it. It sold within 24 hours after I listed it!

I pulled this case out of the same trashcan - I guess my husband was cleaning out his closet. It was the case for a Harley Davidson knife that he had purchased. It also sold for $9.99 with free First Class shipping just hours after I listed it!

Someone gave me this Handy Manny Fix It Truck because it was missing all of the tools and the doll that came with it had a broken leg. I listed it anyway for $19.99 and the buyer paid about $10.00 for the Parcel shipping, because it was heavy!

I found these back issues of The Horse Chronicle magazine at the recycling center. They were each listed for $5.00 plus $5.75 for shipping because they were pretty thick and heavy. One buyer purchased both of them, and I was able to fit them together into a Priority Flat Rate padded envelope. So, the buyer paid a total of $21.50 and my shipping cost was $6.10.

This funny hat with build-in dreadlocks was a souvenir of our visit to Ghana when we lived in Niger. My daughter decided that she wanted to sell it so I listed it for her just before Halloween. It didn't sell then but in November someone purchased it for $22.00 plus $5.55 for shipping. I was able to send it First Class for less, so actually made about $24.00 on it.

I found this sealed package of 2001 Encarta software CD's at the recycling center. I had it listed Buy It Now (BIN) for a few months with no interest. I decided to list it as a 99 cent auction and sold it right away, plus the buyer paid $2.86 for shipping. It only cost $1.93 to ship, and I probably just broke even after fees, but when you sell anything on Ebay, it boosts your rankings on the search engines, and leads to more sales, so it was worth it to me just to get it out of the house!

My final sale for the month was another box of 29 Harlequin romances from that bonanza I found at the recycling center almost 2 years ago. This bunch went for $35.99 with free Media Mail shipping, which cost me $6.26.

Total sales of freebie items last month was $116.38 and after shipping and fees, my profit only came to about $87.67. However, my sales from yard sale and thrift sale purchases continued to increase, and my profits from everything last month was a record high of $1000!

My Ebay Cash to Trash Sales for October

I didn't have a lot of trash-to-cash sales in October compared to the preceding months. I've been focused more on purchasing inexpensive items at yard sales and thrift stores to resell. Here are the the things that I sold last month that didn't cost me a thing:

This postal scale that I purchased with UP Rewards at Rite Aid over a year ago sold for $9.99 with free First Class shipping, that cost me $2.09.

This lot of 11 hardcover Great Illustrated Classics sold for $21.99 with free Media Mail shipping, which cost $6.72. I originally paid $1.00 each for these books at the Dollar Tree over 10 years ago, so my kids had all outgrown them.

This lot of 6 boxes of Anacin that were a money maker at Rite Aid back in April. Some of the boxes were expired, but I noted that in my listing and sold this lot for $15.00 with free shipping, which cost me $2.09 with First Class postage.

This Farsi-English dictionary that was a dumpster find sold to someone in Australia for $9.99 with free First Class shipping that cost me $1.93.

This soft guitar case was another dumpster find that I sold for $9.99. The buyer paid $5.75 for Economy shipping.

This book called Glacier Day Hikes was an impulse purchase by my husband on our vacation to Montana two years ago. I sold it for $12.95 with free Media Mail shipping, which cost $2.09.

This empty box for an American Bitty Baby doll that I found a the recycling center went for $12.99 plus the buyer paid $5.75 for Economy shipping!

I sold this Touch of Gray men's haircolor that was a money maker at Harris Teeter in September for $10.99 with free First Class shipping that cost me $2.09.

This empty bottle that once held Ralph Lauren Safari spray perfume sold for $9.99 and the buyer paid $5.75 for Economy shipping. It was another dumpster diving find.

I listed this Samsung Galaxy Captivate smart phone for parts as not working at $19.99 plus $4.12 for First Class shipping. My daughter had used it for a year and then the port got messed up. plus it had some scratches on it from being dropped. I received a "Best Offer" of $10.00 and took it, since the phone was no good to me anyway.

This lot of 3 back issues holiday baking magazines that I found at the recycling center sold for $12.00 with free Economy shipping, which cost me $2.01.

My favorite sale for last month was two glass windows from the Camaro that my husband is restoring.

The buyer didn't want the glass, just the hardware, and messaged me asking if I would put the windows inside a big garbage bag to break the glass and just ship the rest to him.

I did as he asked, but it made a huge mess in my house that took days to clean up. Next time I'll be smarter and do this outside! Anyway, he paid $60.00 plus $9.55 for Priority shipping.

My total sales for October came to $185.89.  I spent a total of $24.64 on Ebay and Paypal fees and another $19.02 on shipping fees, so my net profit was $142.23!

However, the bulk of my sales came from other sources last month as I continued to grow my Ebay store, and my total profits from Ebay sales were over $700!

Ebay Trash to Cash Sales for September

My first trash-to-cash Ebay sale for the month of September was this box of Prevacid that I got for free at Rite Aid back in July. It sold for $5.00 plus the buyer paid first class shipping of $2.32.

This Black & Decker coffee pot replacement carafe that I found in a dumpster went for $12.99 plus the buyer paid $8.65 for shipping.

Another dumpster diving find were these 2 new packs of Universal looseleaf business card pages. I sold them for $12.00 with free First Class shipping which cost me $1.93.

I also found this Barbie fireplace in the dumpster. Someone threw it away because it had a crack in the side. However, I looked it up when I got home and found that it was vintage 1984, so listed it on Ebay for $9.99 with free shipping. It sold and First Class shipping cost $2.49.

Here are some more sales from my continuing efforts to declutter the house:

I found this copy of The Mom Inventor's Handbook collecting dust in my basement, so I listed and sold it for $16.99 with free media mail shipping. The shipping cost me $2.69.

These Nike cleats were purchased second-hand for my daughter to play lacrosse last year and we paid $15.00 for them. I resold them on Ebay for $15.00 at the end of her season, and the buyer paid $8.55 for shipping. They were pretty dirty, but I cleaned them up nicely for photos with my Mr. Clean Magic Erasers.

My daughter Charlie asked me to list this book on numerology for her. It sold for $12.00 with free Media Mail shipping, which cost $2.69.

These vintage Dingo Western boots sold for $59.99 plus the buyer paid $14.25 for shipping. These were given to my daughter by one of her friends, but they were size 11 and didn't really fit anyone in the family or I would have kept them!

My daughter Bridgette asked me to list these three books about Japan for her. They sold for $14.99 with free Media Mail free shipping which was $2.69.

This khaki skirt from Coldwater Creek that was taking up space in my closet sold for $25.99 with free shipping. I put the keyword "modest" in the title, since some shoppers search specifically for that. First Class shipping was $2.69.

And finally, my best sale for the month was this hand-blown cobalt blue glass platter. I purchased it (and 11 others) back in 1987 when I lived in Damascus, Syria for a few dollars each. I thought I might use them as dinner plates or chargers, but I never did. I moved them from place to place around the world with me for over 25 years and decided they weren't serving any purpose in my basement, so I listed one. It sold for $99.99 and the buyer paid $11.65 for shipping!

My total trash-to-cash Ebay sales for September were $304.36.
Paypal and Ebay fees cost me $39.56 and free shipping costs totalled $12.49, thus my net profits for the month came to $252.31.

After I gave Charlie $9.00 for her book and gave Bridgette $10.00 for her book, I ended up with $233.31!

Ebay Trash to Cash Sales for August, 2014!

My first Trash-to-Cash sale on Ebay for the month of August was this costume jewelry necklace that I got for free at Target back in October. I thought one of my daughters would wear it for homecoming or prom, but they didn't care for it. However, one of them used it for "wacky tacky day" at school, so I couldn't list it as new. I had it listed with a Buy It Now price of $19.99 for months and just couldn't seem to move it, so I changed the listing to an auction and sold it right way. The buyer also paid $4.12 for shipping.

This textbook - The Art of Conducting - which I found in a dumpster sold for $69.99 with free media mail shipping, which was $3.88. It had some high-lighting and underlining from the previous owner, but I listed it high since it sells brand new for $130!

This coffee mug that I found in a dumpster sold for $9.00 to a buyer in Chicago, who also paid $5.74 for shipping.

This children's Encyclopedia that I found in the dumpster sold for $9.99 with free shipping to someone in New Zealand. They purchased it through Ebay's global shipping program, so I only paid the media mail postage to Kentucky, which was $4.84.

These vacuum cleaner bags that I found in a dumpster sold for $7.99 with free shipping, which cost me $2.42.

This cooking magazine that I found in the recycle bin still new in the plastic sold for $7.50, which included a cost of $2.69 for free shipping.

Here are some more sales from my home "decluttering project":

I purchased most of these books on tape back in the 1980's and they were taking up space in my basement. I sold them for $47.00 with free media mail shipping, which cost me $5.32.

I had this wrap skirt made for my daughter five years ago when we lived in Niamey, Niger. It was a typical West African print, and was listed for several months until the right buyer came long. It sold for $21.99 with free first class shipping, which cost me $2.42.

My husband took two lower control A-arms off the suspension of the Camaro that he is restoring in the garage. One was rusted through, but the other wasn't too bad, so I listed it for $59.99 or best offer. A guy in the Netherlands offered me $35.00 for it, then paid another $65.00 in customs and shipping fees through the Global Shipping program!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

My gross Trash-to-Cash sales for August were $265.84. After deducting $35.00 for Ebay and Paypal fees, plus $17.00 for shipping fees, my net profit came to $213.84!

Last month reader Michelle S. requested a "getting started on Ebay guide". I spent a lot of time thinking about what to say, but then ran across this article which is well written and gives some good advice, so I decided to share it with you HERE

Ebay Trash to Cash Sales for July 2014!

My first freebie Ebay sale for the month were these 2 boxes of Nair Bikini Cream hair remover that were a money maker at Rite Aid in June.  They sold for $8.99 with free shipping. I mailed them first class, which cost me $2.01.

These two Taste of Home magazines that I found at the recycling center sold for $9.99 with free shipping. One was the Premier edition from 1993 and the other was a Collector's edition from 1995. I mailed them first class for $3.47.

This lot of 200 Campbell's Labels for Education, many of which came from the recycling center, sold for $15.00 with free first class shipping, which cost me $2.09.

This lot of 11 back issues of Reiner magazine from 2012 that I found at the recycling center sold for $16.00 and the buyer paid another $16.00 for shipping.

I made several sales this month in my efforts to declutter the house:

This little stuffed Pokemon Zorua was in my daughter's bedroom for the past 3 years and she had outgrown it. It sold for $9.99 in an auction plus the buyer paid $2.01 for the shipping.

My husband used to play softball every weekend when we lived overseas, so he bought these 2 Mizuno softball bats and an Easton bag to carry them. Since we moved to the U.S. five years ago, they had sat in the basement. I listed them on Ebay and sold them for $139.99 plus shipping, which the buyer paid.

Another purchase from our time in Africa was this Harry Potter fabric. I bought nearly 3 yards at a fundraiser to have something made for my kids and never got around to it. I pulled it out of the basement to list and found that it was the official licensed fabric which was out of print. It sold to someone in Australia for $99.99 plus the buyer paid for shipping.

These two ATV helmets that we bought for our kids were they were little no longer fit, so I listed and sold them for $34.99 each, plus the buyers paid for shipping.

My total trash-to-cash Ebay sales in July came to $327.36, and after subtracting 13% for fees, I ended up with a profit of $284.55!

When I first started selling on Ebay, my husband said he would be thrilled if I could make $200 per month, which would cover our car payment. I'm pleased that I managed to do that this month by selling items that were free!
