How I got Free Stamps and Produce!

Last month during Triple Coupons at Harris Teeter I found an offer to get a free movie ticket to Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2 when you bought two Kellogg's Special K products and a 59 oz. bottle of orange juice.

I cashed in some of my Kellogg's Family Rewards points and printed out 2 coupons worth 75 cents that doubled. I also printed out a coupon for 55 cents Indian River juice (thanks to reader Denise) that doubled. I ended up paying $3.47 for those 3 items, but the movie voucher didn't print as expected.

I went to the customer service desk at Harris Teeter where they said they would mail me the voucher, and they did. Unfortunately, the voucher had a hand written code on it that would not work. When I plugged it, I got a message that it was invalid and had already been used.

I contacted Catalina marketing and they first emailed me that the code had not worked due to problems with their website, and that I should try again. When it still didn't work, I contacted them again and received a brand new code. This one worked, but I had no use for the movie ticket. My kids are too big for these kind of animated  flicks, so I decided to trade it.

I ended up getting 6 first class stamps and a coupon for a free Dole Salad or All Natural Salad Kit worth up to $4.99 from Jennifer in N.C. - one of my main sources of hot Food Lion deals!  She tells me that she won the freebie coupon (which doesn't expire until December) in an instant win game.

So, for the $3.47 that I spent I got:
- Indian River Orange Juice (59 oz) - reg. $3.99
- Kellogg's Special K Cereal Bars - reg. $3.39
- Kellogg's Special K Cereal Bars - reg. $3.39
- Free Dole Salad Kit coupon worth $4.95
- Six first class stamps worth $2.76
Total value = $18.38!

I love it when I can trade something I won't use for stamps and produce!!

My Trash to Kohl's Cash Trade!

I was browsing on my favorite site for trading, A Full Cup, when I noticed someone who had a Kohls's Cash coupon that was expired, and I asked what she wanted for it.

She replied that that she was looking for stamps, Pampers codes, or Coke codes. Stamps are like money to me and I didn't have any Pampers codes, so I offered 250 Coke Code points - enough for a free fridge pack.

The other party replied that the Kohl's cash was useless to her, and she was thrilled to trade for something worth $5.00!

Remember, I told you that Kohl's cash never really expires? Either this trader doesn't know that, or perhaps her store is stricter than mine.  In any case, I messaged her the codes from 25 fridge packs that I had found at the dumpster:

Coke Codes

And she mailed me this coupon worth $10.00 on my next visit to Kohl's!

This was an excellent trade for me, since there are a limited number of items at My Coke Rewards that truly interest me (free soda, Ritz crackers, and the occasional gift card for McDonalds or Domino's pizza), whereas the Kohl's cash can be spent on shopping for upcoming birthday or Christmas gifts!

Box Tops for Education and Cash!

Now that school has started back it's time to turn my trash into treasure and trade Box Tops for Education!  Schools that participate in the Box Tops for Education (BTFE) program get 10 cents for each box top that they turn in. Most traders will pay 5 cents per BTFE but I have a long-standing relationship with a trader who pays 7 cent each. She just emailed and asked if I had any to trade, so I got out my BTFE chicken.

I keep this chicken in my kitchen, and throughout the year as I am cooking, I clip BTFE off packages and throw them in. I also look for BTFE when I am at the recycling center. I usually wait until I have a big batch before I do a trade, although I will occasionally trade 10 here or there for coupons that I can't get locally.

My trader asked for no BTFE expiring in 2013, so I got them out and sorted them. I found a few expired and tossed them, then organized them into groups of 10 to make them easier to count. My total came up to 360!

Box Tops for Education

My trader will send me $25.20 by Paypal and I will mail these out to her. My postage for a 3 oz envelope will cost 95 cents, so I will end up with a profit of $24.25!
