Super Giant/Rite Aid Shopping!

Today I made stops at Rite Aid and Giant for things I needed and some special deals. My daughter has a Girl Scout activity this weekend that required snacks:  Nutella, baguettes, and celery. I decided to use the FREE Ritz Cracker coupons that I got from My Coke Rewards a few months ago to finance these purchases. This is how I did it:

Giant has a catalina deal this week (May 4-10, 2012) to get $5.00 towards your next order when you spend $15.00 on specific items, and the deal is working on the Presale Price (PSP). The means you do not actually have to spend $15.00 to get the catalina, and of course, coupons do not affect the total. The items (with sale prices and Presale prices) are:

Nabisco Munch pack- select varieties (9-25.2 oz pkg ) - $5.99

Ritz Crackers- select varieties (7.5-16 oz pkg) Excludes 11.3 oz - On sale for $2.99 - PSP $3.79

Coca-Cola 6 pk assorted varieties (6/16.9 oz bottles) - On sale for $3/$10.00 - PSP $3.79
Fig Newtons select varieties (8-14 oz pkg) - On sale for $3.49 - PSP $4.15
Nutter Butters select varieties (10.5-16 oz pkg) - On sale for $3.49 - PSP $3.99

Nabisco snak sak all varieties (8 oz pkg) - 2/$5.00

Honey Graham, Lil Squares Original or Cinnamon (13 oz) - On sale for $2.99 - PSP $3.59
Coca-Cola 20 pk select varieties (20/12 fl oz cans) - $6.49
Coca-Cola 1.25 liter select varieties (42.2 fl oz) - 99 cents
Dansani purified water (24pk 24/16.9 oz bottles) - $3.99

Honest Tea select varieties (16.9 oz bottle) $1.00 - PSP $1.50

I bought 4 boxes of Ritz crackers (PSP = $15.16) with 4 freebie coupons, paid 30 cents in tax, and got back a catalina for $5.00 on my next purchase!

Then I got 3 baguettes ($1.79 each) and a stalk of celery ($1.99), so my total came to $7.36. I paid with the $5.00 catalina and owed $2.36 plus tax.

While I was at Giant I also picked up 2 bags of Arm & Hammer detergent power packs. These are on sale "Buy One Get One Free" this week, regularly priced at $5.99. I used a coupon for $1.00 off 2 bags, and paid $4.99 plus tax. After I send off for the Try Me Free offer that I posted about here I will end up with a small profit on two free bags!

Then it was on to Rite Aid for the Nutella, which was on sale 2 for $6.00. I also picked up 8 boxes of the free Sucrets that I posted about here. I grabbed 2 bags of Tostitos that were on sale 2 for $6.00, and will send off for the rebate that I posted about here to get back $4.00. I got come copy paper because I was out (I use a lot printing coupons!), and a couple of cleaning items from the dollar aisle that caught my eye. Since I have a Gold Wellness Discount, these cost me only 80 cents each, and since I paid with UP Rewards everything was free.

I also got two other deals that I just learned about:

The One Touch Ultra Mini Blood Glucose Monitoring System is on sale for $9.99. It was FREE with the $10.00 coupon from the 4/29 Red Plum insert. If you don't have a diabetic in your family, these are good donations to senior centers or your local chapter of the American Diabetes Association.

The Rite Aid Pantry Honey Bear is on sale 2 for $5.00 and is "double dipping" on a weekly and a monthly UP Reward. When you buy two you get back three $1.00 Up Rewards, so they end up costing $1.00 each. This is a good deal if you get the bear that says pure clover honey. Some Rite Aids sell a bear with a blend of honey and high fructose corn syrup made by Global - I don't know if that one is double dipping - and even if it is, $1.00 each would not be a good price for it.

New Proctor & Gamble Rebate for $10.00!

Proctor & Gamble has a new mail in rebate offer to get back $10.00 when you spend $50.00 on any Venus, Olay, Secret, CoverGirl, Clairol, Herbal Essences, Aussie, Head & Shoulders, Pantene, Safeguard, Ivory, Crest 3D White, Always and/or Tampax products from 04/29/12 to 06/05/12.  You can print the form here.

Several stores have sales going on that you can take advantage of while doing this rebate in order to end up spending very little.

Rite Aid:  Rite Aid has a offer this week for a free beauty gift set valued at $30.00 when you buy $50.00 worth of selected P&G products. There are 3 different gift sets to choose from. Your purchases will track on your receipt, and when you reach $50.00 a coupon will print out on the bottom of your receipt that you can use to "purchase" the gift set.

CVS: This week CVS is offering a free 8-pack of Bounty Basic paper towels when you spend $30.00 on selected Proctor and Gamble products.

I think the best deal is at Food Lion!

Food Lion has a sale this week (May 2-8, 2012) to save $5.00 when you spend $15.00 on P&G items. You could do it several times to reach the $50.00 threshold for the rebate.

Buy:
4 Pantene shampoos ($3.50 each) = $14.00
and 1 Secret deodorant = $2.50
Total: $16.50

Use:
$1.00 off Secret coupon from the 4/29 P&G insert
2 Buy One Get One Free Pantene coupons from the 4/29 P&G insert
Total after coupons = $8.50
Get $5.00 Instant Savings
Pay $3.50 out of pocket

REPEAT and you will have a subtotal towards the rebate of $33.00.

Then Buy:
4 Pantene shampoos ($3.50 each) = $14.00
and 2 Secret deodorants ($2.50 each) = $5.00
Total = $19.00

Use:
2 coupons to save $1.00 off Secret from the 4/29 P&G insert
2 Buy One Get One Free Pantene coupons from the 4/29 P&G
Total after coupons = $10.00
Get $5.00 Instant Savings
Pay $5.00 out of pocket

You will end up spending $12.00 and will be eligible for the $10.00 rebate!

Spectracide Money Maker at Walmart!

You can get free Spectracide Weed and Grass Killer or Bug Spray at Walmart by following these steps:

1) Click here to print out a coupon worth $3.00 off any Spectracide product. The coupon is redeemable only at Walmart. You can print 2 per computer.

2) Purchase 2 or 3 Spectracide items at Walmart. The Weed & Grass Killer and Bug sprays run between $2.97 and $3.47. Walmart's coupon policy says that if you use a coupon worth more than the price of an item, they must give you overage. However, many of their cashiers are unfamiliar with the policy, so you may want to print out a copy here to take along to the store in case of problems.

3) Print out the Mail In Rebate form here from Spectracide's Facebook page.

4) Fill out the form and mail in with your cash register receipt to make a profit!

Note: Mail in rebates are occasionally denied because of coupon usage. I suggest you take a Sharpie and black out the coupon amount and total amount, so that that only the price of the items circled is visible on your receipt to avoid rejection.

Hill's Science Diet Try Me Free Offer

Yesterday I received this email from Petsmart because I am signed up with their PetPerks program. It was a birthday greeting for my dog, Hugger, who turned 8 on May 1st, and it entitles me to any item worth up to $4.00 with a $15.00 purchase:

Here is what I plan to do with it:

- Buy a bag of Hill's Science Diet Ideal Balance Dry Dog Food for $12.99.

- Buy a can of Hill's Science Dog Food for $2.09. That will bring my bill up to $15.08 so I can use the coupon.

- Add in a $4.00 toy or treat for Hugger. This will bring my total to $19.08.

Then I will:

- Use the email coupon to take $4.00 off my bill.

- Use a coupon for a FREE can of Hill's Science dog food when you buy 1 bag of dry food. You can find it in the 4/15 Smart Source insert or print it when you register here. That will take $2.09 off my bill.

- Pay $12.99 + tax out of pocket.

- Send away for the Hill's Science Diet Try Me Free Offer valid between 1/1/12 and 12/31/12 that you can print here, and get back $12.99!

Weekly Roundup #17 - April 24-30, 2012

This week I exceeded my $50.00 budget due to a careless mistake. That combined with the mistake I made last week took me $8.80 over my monthly budget. A lesson to me to slow down and focus better in the store!

My mistake:  I read on a blog that Goya beans were only 50 cents a can at Giant after a combined sale and coupon. Not the best price ever, but not bad. I grabbed 16 cans and threw them into my cart without really studying the price. I was shocked when my total came up high, and I later realized that the sale in my area was not the same as the one I had read about. I had actually paid $1.00 per can! I guess we will be having a few rice and bean dinners next month.
