My 1 Cent Food Lion Shopping Trip!

Yesterday I went to Food Lion and spent 1 penny on the items pictured above!

I scanned my MVP card at the kiosk when I entered the store and received a coupon for 75 cents off any package of My Essentials Rice, so I grabbed this small bag that cost 77 cents!

I also picked up a 2 liter bottle of Coke because reader Pat B of Delaware graciously sent me a coupon for a free bottle that she found in the donation bin at her Shoprite! Although the Coke was on sale for 99 cents, the coupon took off the regular price of $1.99.

I selected 2 packages of Energizer batteries that had the Bunny Birthday rebate peelies on them for 6.99 each.

Finally, I checked out the marked down meat section, because I had both a $2.00 meat FLIP coupon and a $1.00 fresh pork coupon. I found this package of pork chops that was originally $9.18, marked down to $7.54.

Here are the trip details:
Pork Chops - $7.34 - $3.00 in coupons = $4.34
Energizer Batteries - $13.98 - $2.50 in coupons = $11.48
Coca Cola - 99 - $1.99 freebie catalina coupon = ($1.00)
ME Rice - 77 cent - 75 cent kiosk coupon = 2 cents
Subtotal = $14.84
Tax = 17 cents
Total = $15.01

After I paid with the $15.00 catalina that I earned on this trip, my total came to 1 cent!

Even better, I will submit for the Energizer Bunny Birthday rebate and make a nice profit!

  1. Great job, you are such an inspiration to us, we have done this for years, but sometimes feel burned out by the whole thing. But when I read your blog weekly, it keeps me going! Thanks Theresa for sharing!

  3. Alison, I actually did the Food Lion gift card deal 5 times, so I spent $29.75 in activation fees, but I ended up with $75.00 in catalinas!
