My Shopping Today: Good deals at Rite Aid, Food Lion, and Giant

Here are photos and details of my trips to 3 stores today. I think we will be having some spaghetti for dinner this weekend!

Giant shopping trip Dec 6, 2012
Giant (sale ends today)
Giant has a promotion to get a free box of Giant brand pasta when you buy 4 Del Monte products. The Del Monte canned tomatoes are on sale 10/$10 or $1.00 each. If you happened to print the coupon that was available recently to save 50 cents on two cans of Del Monte tomatoes, you could do this:

Buy:
4 cans of tomatoes - $4.00
1 box of pasta - $1.00
Subtotal - $5.00

Minus:
Automatic free pasta - $1.00
Two coupons doubled - $2.00
Total out of pocket - $2.00 or 40 cents per item.

Giant also has Toblerone chocolate bars on sale for $1.50, so FREE with the 75 cent coupon (regional) that was in the 11/11 Smart Source insert. We got a coupon for $1.00 off two in the Washington Post. :(

Gift cards are giving double gas points this week. I used the coupon from the Giant ad in my newspaper to earn 300 Bonus Gas points when you buy a gift card, and picked up a gift card for $50.00 at the Home Depot (in addition to the tomatoes and pasta). I left the store with 400 gas points!

Food Lion shopping trip Dec 6, 2012
Food Lion (sale ends on Tuesday, December 11)

I bought the Ragu pasta sauce and free spaghetti that I posted about HERE, but something interesting happened. When I scanned my MVP card at the Savings Center kiosk, I received a store coupon for free spaghetti when you buy 2 jars of Ragu pasta sauce, so I handed that to the cashier. It took 12 cents off my transaction, and then the $1.39 cost of the spaghetti noodles also came off automatically. So, my total out of pocket expense for those 3 items was $1.88 or 63 cent each!

Gold Medal flour is on sale Buy One Get One Free, regular price $3.48, so $1.74 each. I printed 2 coupons to save 25 cents off a 5 lb bag HERE, so my total for 2 bags came to $2.98 or $1.49 each! That's a great stock up price for flour, which is normally only a bargain this time of year. I keep it in my freezer until ready to use.

Rite Aid (sale ends Saturday, December 8)
In addition to the deals I posted HERE for Rite Aid, a few more popped up during the week:

Axe Body Wash - 2 for $9.00 - Buy 4 for $18.00, use 4 coupons for $2.00 each, pay $10.00 out of pocket and get a $5.00 weekly UP (limit 2) and a $5.00 monthly UP (limit 2). The November monthly UP deal ended on Dec 4th, but reset for December, so if you haven't done this deal yet, you can still do it this week. There is a Load2Card coupon for $1.00 that makes it a money maker!

Conair Bobby Pins - $3.19 regular - Gold Discount price $2.55 - $2.00 in ad coupon = 55 cents
Conair Shower Cap - $2.99 regular - Gold Discount price $1.999 - $2.00 in ad coupon = FREE
Conair Mini Brush - $2.99 regular - Gold Discount price $2.39 - $2.00 in ad coupon - 39 cents
I made a mistake and picked up the 90 ct. Bobby Pins. I meant to get the 60 count, which would have been free. The Conair Foam rollers are also free with Gold discount and $2.00 in-ad coupon, and the Conair Mini Bobby Pins are only 7 cents.

Pentel Twist Erase Click Mechanical Pencil - $4.99 / $3.99 Gold discount price is FREE with $4.00 Monthly UP Reward (Limit 4)

Gillette Razors were a money maker with Gold Discount and this scenario:

Buy 2 Gillette Custom+3 Disposable Razors - Reg. $7.49 but $5.99 with Gold discount = $11.98

The razors are still a money maker if you have Silver or no discount, but not as much.
