What I Spent in June - $34.00 Per Week!

My grocery, household, and toiletry expenditures were very low in June, thanks in part to Harris Teeter Super Doubles. I spent a lot of time and energy working on my Ebay store , so I didn't get out to shop much. In fact, I only visited 2 stores all last month - Rite Aid and Harris Teeter! Since I had a freezer full of meat from previous deals and a well stocked pantry already, we were able to get through the month on a shoestring.

Here are my totals:
Rite Aid - $16.96
Harris Teeter - $134.12
Total - $151.08

I only sent off for one mail in rebate:
Finish Dishwasher Detergent Try Me Free Offer - $7.99

I also got the following refunds from Saving Star:
Quaker Oatmeal Cup - $1.63
Morton's Salt - 89 cents
Tic Tacs - 20 cents
Mangoes - 80 cents
Oranges - 80 cents
Total - $4.32

My Ibotta earnings were:
Zevia - $1.00
So Delicious $1.00
Friendship Cottage Cheese - 75 cents
Total - $2.75

Total rebates for the month of June came to $15.06, which brought my expenses down to $136.02 or the equivalent of $34.00 per week!

What I Spent in May - Way Under Budget!!

Even though I wasn't keeping track every week during May, I still managed to stay way under my $50.00 weekly budget! I find this particularly amazing since we had no Super Doubles event at Harris Teeter in May.

Here is the breakdown of my expenses for food, toiletries and paper products:

Harris Teeter - $54.63
Food Lion - $57.32
Rite Aid - $6.89
Safeway - $5.90
Giant - $9.05
Total - $133.79

This total included a $5.95 activation fee for a $500 Visa debit card to do the gas points deal that was posted on Minniemizing.

I have a feeling we ate out more than usual last month, and since I don't keep good tabs on that budget, it may not be that we actually spent less than usual on food...

I also sent off for the following rebates:

Lysol Max Try Me Free Offer - $3.99
Bic Flamedisk Try Me Free Offer = $2.99
Two Free Washington Nationals Tickets X 2 = Priceless?

What I Spent on Everything in April

In April I went over my $200.00 budget for the month, even though we had a Super Doubles event at Harris Teeter. However, thanks to the rebates that I sent off for, my total costs for food, household goods and health and beauty products came in just under the wire!

Expenses
Giant - $6.38
Food Lion - $16.96
Harris Teeter - $197.59
Rite Aid - $13.58
Walgreens - $8.88
Total - $243.39

I would have spent $3.00 less at Walgreens, but my store that used to accept expired Register Rewards, wouldn't take my $3.00 RR when I tried to use it last month, so I had to pay cash.

Mail in Rebates
Lienenkugel's NBPR - $7.00 x 2 = $14.00
Truvia MBG - $4.59 x 2 = $9.18
Land O Lakes Free Butter Spread - $3.00
Total - $26.18

I also requested my first rebate check from Checkout 51 for $20.01.

Total expenses after rebates = $197.20

What I Spent in March - Just the Right Amount!

I finally got organized and tallied up my receipts for the month of March. Here are the results:

Harris Teeter - $112.42
Giant - $26.85
Food Lion - $24.15
Rite Aid - $14.70
CVS - $4.41
Dollar Tree - $3.35
Target - $6.79 (used gift card that I got from My Coke Rewards)
Total - $199.77

I stayed right within my $200 budget last month thanks to Super Doubles at Harris Teeter and the awesome $3.50 General Mills produce offer that kept repeating, also at Harris Teeter.

These are the rebates that I sent off for:

Scope Mouthwash - $4.49
Ban Refresh Towlettes - $2.99
Cremo Shaving Cream - $7.99
Shock Top NBPR Produce - $4.00
Stella Artois Prepared Foods - $4.00
Zantac Try Me Free Offer - $8.63
Mucinex Allergy Meds - $2.50
Bud Light Lime NBPR - $4.00
Total = $38.60

I'm hoping for another great coupon event at Harris Teeter near the end of the month. Last year they had Triple Coupons in April!

What I Spent in February - Back on Track!

Once again, I failed to track my expenditures throughout the month, but tallied all of my receipts at the end. The results for my groceries, health and beauty items and household needs:

Aldis - $6.19
CVS - $9.68
Rite Aid - $10.50
Giant - $6.22
Food Lion - $53.82
Harris Teeter - $167.91
Total - $254.32

I did no Mail-in-Rebates last month but I did accumulate the following in my these accounts:
Checkout 51 - $11.01
Ibotta - $26.00
Saving Star - $23.76
Total - $60.77

Final cost = $193.55!

I'm pretty pleased, considering that my husband spent $16.39 on an ice cream cake for my birthday with NO COUPON!

We also saved on our fuel expenditures significantly, thanks to the awesome gas points promotion at Giant. I rolled the deal 5 times and ended up with a total of 12,500 gas points. Added to the 600 already in my account, that totalled 6 tank fill-ups with $2.20 per gallon off the regular price!

What I Spent in January - Too Much!

I got way behind recording my monthly expenses again.

Here are my total expenditures for the month of January:
Giant - $8.04
Safeway - $8.68
Harris Teeter - $112.87
Food Lion - $81.40
Rite Aid - $38.53
7-11 - $9.41
Sam's Club - $23.66
Petco - $37.09
Spending Total - $319.68

Since there were 5 weeks in January and my budget is $50.00 per week, I should have stayed under $250.00.

I was $69.68 over budget last month for 4 reasons:
1) My husband ran out to 7-11 for milk and eggs and spent $9.41.
2) I spent $37.09 on a bag of dog food at Petco, so that I could do this rebate and get my purchase price back
3) We were out of milk, dog food, and time so I ran into Sam's Club for those things when we happened to be nearby instead of doing coupon deals for them.
4) I didn't track my purchases as I went along. I found that when I did this during the week for the past 2 years, that I was much more cognizant of our grocery spending and and careful to stay within budget.

In addition to the Nutro Natural Choice try me free offer, I also did these rebates:
Miller/Icehouse - $5.00 when you spend $10.00 on beef/buns x 2 = $10.00
Physicians Formula Sexy Booster Mascara TMF offer - $9.95
Dickenson's Witch Hazel Towlettes TMF offer - $2.99
Rebate total: $60.03

I guess after rebates I was really only $9.98 over budget, but I am going to tally up my February spending right now, so that I can stay on top of it this month!

November Monthly Expenditures Round-Up

November went haywire and the month ended without a single weekly round-up report, so I sat down today and added up my receipts for the entire month. I was a bit apprehensive about what the total would come to - I like tracking my purchases as I go along, so I can tell if I am close to or far from my $200 budget as the month comes to a close.

If you are relatively new to my blog, I will explain: I try (and generally succeed) in keeping our family's weekly budget for food, paper products, and toiletries at or under $50.00. That works out to $10.00 per person. Since my son went off to college in August, it has been much easier, but I manage it by doing only the very best deals each week at each store.

Although this budget does not include eating out, I would say that we eat out very rarely compared to most families in Northern Virginia. I aim for a sit down dinner every night of the week. My kids pack their own lunches for school each day, and my husband frequently takes his lunch in to work. We pretty much only eat out if we have gift cards, or a certificate from Groupon, Living Social, YipDeals, Specialicious or Restaurant.com

Anyway, on to the tally!

Here are my totals for each location where I shopped in November:
Food Lion - $54.65
Giant - $43.73
Harris Teeter - $58.39
Rite Aid - 23.84
Total - $180.61

I normally list every item that I purchased, but since we are halfway into December I'll skip that and suffice it to say that we didn't go hungry!

Additionally, I earned $17.15 from Saving Star and sent off for the following mail-in-rebates:

Redd's Apple Ale NBPR - $4.00
Finish Powertab and Jet Dry - $9.00
CK Mondavi Turkey purchase - $6.00
Mrs. Smith's Pie - $2.00 x 3 = $6.00
MillerCoors Gift Card NBPR - $10.00
MillerCoors Meat  NBPR - $5.00
Kendall Jackson Cheese/Poultry NWPR - $2.00
Kendall Jackson Chocolate/Greeting Cards NWPR - $2.00 x 2 - $4.00
Total - $46.00

My Saving Star and MIR total equate to more than an entire week of grocery expenditures, if they all arrive.

Last year I did several rebates for gift card purchases that I never received, and since I didn't copy the info I wasn't able to follow up. It just isn't worth it to me for a few dollars, although I do keep a notebook with each rebate that I send off, so that I don't accidentally do the same one twice. I just try to keep under budget each week and consider it a fun surprise when an unexpected check comes in the mail!

I stocked up on cheese and juice at Harris Teeter last week, and laundry detergent at both Food Lion and Harris Teeter. All of these sales continue into next week, so it's not too late to take advantage.

Weekly Roundup #40 - October 13-19, 2013

I stocked up on cheap sausage at Giant last week and frozen pizza at Food Lion. My total at Rite Aid was so low because I bought the wrong sized Benefiber for the deal, so I returned it. I used some of my UP Rewards to buy my daughter some glitzy, gold fake nails at Rite Aid to match her Homecoming dress.

I was a bit worried how my totals would turn out, since I was not on top of things this month, but happy to see that I am well below my weekly budget of $50.00!  Even though the drugstore deals have been lame lately, I did really well at Harris Teeter Triples and the Food Lion Super Sale, and I am well stocked with both canned and frozen vegetables for a while!

Weekly Roundup #33 - August 25 to 31, 2013

I found a receipt from Harris Teeter Super Doubles that I neglected to include in my Weekly Roundup #32, so I have included it here.  I also bought 3 gift cards at Rite Aid that are not included in my totals.  I used UP Rewards on those transactions towards the merchandise and my coupons cut into the cost of the gift cards!

Weekly Roundup #32 - August 18 to 24, 2013

Last week I got behind on tracking my expenditures during our out-of-town trips, so I am playing catch up now. My amazing daughter Charlie helped me with this post and learned a little bit of blogging in the process. She is taking full credit.

Weekly Roundup #31 - August 11 to 17, 2013

Last week I bought a LOT of ice cream at Food Lion and used a raincheck to get cheap olive oil. I also spent out of pocket on Physician's Formula cosmetics at Rite Aid. I normally only like to pay with UP Rewards, but my daughter wanted the make-up and there were very few pink "Try Me Free" peelie stickers, so I didn't want to pass the deal up.

Weekly Roundup #30 - August 4 to 10, 2013

I really did the limbo last week with expenses totaling about half my weekly budget of $50.00!  I picked up some deals at Harris Teeter and we ate out one night. My $25.00 UP Reward from Rite Aid really helped a lot, too.

Weekly Roundup #29 - July 28 to Aug 3, 2013

Most of my shopping last week was at Food Lion, where I earned my 4th ticket for the Shell Gas Card Deal. I also stocked up on ice cream at Safeway, got 2 deli pizzas at Harris Teeter, and did money maker deals at Rite Aid and Walgreens.  My freezer was looking a little bare, so I decided to unload it and defrost it this weekend.

Total for July - $230.28

I was slightly over budget this week and $30.28 over budget for the month of July, due to the cereal cups I bought at Giant for the gas points. I going to count that $30 overage towards my gas budget. I sure hope Harris Teeter has a Super Doubles event soon so that I can restock my freezer!

Weerkly Roundup #28 - July 21 to 27, 2013

I earned my 3rd ticket for the Food Lion Gas Deal last week, and also picked up some cheap items at Harris Teeter and freebies at Rite Aid. Although I can no longer get free milk at Rite Aid, I did use my UP Rewards there for eggs!
